Philippe de Diesbach
The move to an hyper-dynamic company as Calysta is a challenge. This necessitates a sense of adaptation; all that has been established before is no longer certain. There is the need to achieve the tasks in a more efficient way; to find new solutions, to deliver on time and “to the point”. At Calysta, there is no routine and I appreciate this.
The creation of a patent portfolio for our clients is necessarily challenging: as for Humans, every patent is different. Where is the counter-intuitive idea that is at the base of the client’s innovation? Where is the hidden gem? How can I create a case on that basis? How can I defend this before the different jurisdictions?
On the other hand, third parties’ patents represent challenges to our clients. It is also a big challenge to give the right black/white (I should say black/orange) advice to our clients in a concise way. Our clients need to take the good decisions and it is our challenge to correctly inform them using concise and readily understandable terms.
I have a lot of different activities in my life, beside Calysta, of course. It is a challenge to combine them: when you drive, you see the patents you are drafting; when you sleep, you dream about the claims. It is thus a challenge to avoid traffic accidents and to sleep correctly. To say it differently, without the stimulation offered by these many challenges, my enthusiasm and dynamisms would be declining.
